SPE Fest is a yearly tradition by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, a week where students showcase their skills in rig design, knowledge, and wit, all brought to life through a brand identity that reflects the spirit of the event.

SPE Fest 🎉 is a celebration of the org members' learnings in the oil and gas industries which is composed of several competitions. As this was a big event for the org, we chose vibrant colors to reflect the celebration of the member's skills and talents. Though it deviates from the usual brand color of the org, we made sure to add elements such as the logo and minute brand details to show that this was organized by the org.
Supervising the team's workflow and monitoring the deadline requires strategic planning and it certainly has honed that particular skill in my leadership. Assigning project workload is based on their strengths. Working closely with the members was challenging, yet fulfilling since we were able to see each other's growth within the team. Some of them really stepped up and from that, I was able to train them to take the lead for the next term. One way is to expose them to big events such as the SPE fest.

As this team was mostly made up of graphic designers, we practiced following the current graphic design trends to go beyond our own personal creative learnings and to offer more innovative ideas. For these two different but related events, we followed the trend called "Memphis" for SPE Fest which composes of bright multi-colored objects with a rejection of typical shapes, which also signifies a new transition of this novel event. We also incorporated gradients in the design, which was also a trend that year. For the competitions, we used isometric design to create depth for the identity of each competition. For the SPE Convergence, we chose the timeless flat design. The elements here are the national symbols of the country, while the color palette used is the muted colors of the Philippine flag.
